Tired of finding mass-produced and impersonal products in shops, John found it difficult to find high quality locally-made gifts which make gifting more meaningful. He saw how some of the best products for gifting in Ireland are made by local artistic and creative people who struggle to sell online and often don’t have their own websites. John set out on a mission to support these small Irish businesses and help people find some of Ireland’s most special gifts.

A bit of background on the founder

Once upon a time there was a red-headed Dubliner who valued creativity and the arts. He loved ancient history, music, dance, and other activities like yoga. One of his favourite things was having a circle of creative people around him who were passionate about art and making others feel special, feel happy, feel energised or feel inspired. He followed his own creative musical dreams until one day he fell into the trap of thinking that he had to work at a desk and do things he did not enjoy to earn more money.

With a pandemic cutting off access to many cultural and artistic activities, he felt like he was in a world of empty craters without any soul or colour. The same applied for when he wanted to buy a gift for people he cared for and all he could find in mainstreet shops was mass-produced items which he felt lacked personality and feeling. He did not know where to find things which were more meaningful.

During this time he acquired many skills about the boring things in life such as business, finance, marketing and IT, and he saw how many business people focus on mass-production to make products cheaper and cheaper to increase profits. He felt the world was losing personality with the same products everywhere. He saw how this comes at a cost to society because mass-produced things generally don’t inspire real emotion in others. Furthermore the wealth does not spread around artistic circles but rather gets eaten up by corporations and people who know how to scale businesses to make money, but who don’t know how to really inspire others or make them feel special. These corporate professionals have often forgotten how to slow down and enjoy the little things in life. They are often exhausted when they go home every night and need some help to unwind and discover the beautiful things life has to offer.

He then understood the immense value of creative people who try to fill this void, but how many of these can barely survive on their work because they struggle with tiring things like digital marketing, managing websites and spending time trying to sell just to survive. He knew how all they wanted was to create special things which other people could buy as nice gifts for their friends and family to create memorable feelings.

So one day he had an idea to try to put his boring business skills to better use and do something meaningful. This could help these wonderful entrepreneurs and artists share their quality crafts and inspirational products with people who want to create memories for their friends and family with more personal and unique gifts… to make their dear ones feel… special.
